A couple of years ago I built this external drive using a standard 1Tb SATA drive and a separate enclosure. Having talked about it at work today, I'm tempted to build another - only it's getting cheaper.

If I did it again, would probably use the same enclosure, but after a couple of problems with Seagate drives, I'm leaning towards Hitachi again.

Drive: Hitachi Saturn 1Tb

Enclosure: Akasa SATA

But, it's all money, so I guess better get the bathroom finished off first!
